CNC Die-Sinking EDM Machine

Our precision manufacturing workshop is equipped with a CNC die-sinking electrical discharge machining system with an automatic electrode changer. The equipment is used to produce complex cavities, narrow slots, fine internal features, sharp corners, and detailed mold geometries that may be difficult to complete through conventional cutting processes.

The machine removes material through controlled electrical discharges between a shaped electrode and an electrically conductive workpiece. This non-contact machining method is suitable for hardened steels, tool steels, carbide components, and other conductive materials requiring detailed geometry or controlled surface quality. Die-sinking EDM is widely used for producing complex cavities, fine details, and precision forms in difficult-to-machine conductive materials.

Key Advantages:

  • Complex cavity machining
  • Fine-detail reproduction
  • Low cutting-force deformation
  • Stable surface finishing

Equipment and Production Capabilities

The equipment uses pre-machined copper or graphite electrodes to reproduce the required geometry inside the workpiece. Each electrode corresponds to a specific cavity, feature, machining depth, or finishing stage.

The automatic electrode magazine visible in the image allows several electrodes to be prepared and exchanged according to the CNC program. This supports sequential roughing, semi-finishing, and finishing operations without requiring frequent manual electrode changes. Automatic electrode-changing systems are commonly used on precision sinker EDM equipment to improve process continuity and support multi-electrode machining.

Typical applications in our factory include:

  • Precision mold cavities
  • Deep ribs and narrow slots
  • Connector mold components
  • Insert and core details
  • Hardened tooling components
  • Internal corners and complex recesses
  • Features inaccessible to conventional cutting tools

The process is particularly useful after heat treatment because the material is removed by electrical discharge rather than direct mechanical cutting. This helps reduce cutting forces on thin walls, slender features, and delicate mold structures.

Role in Our Manufacturing Process

The CNC die-sinking EDM machine forms part of our integrated mold and precision-component manufacturing workflow. Electrode design, electrode machining, EDM programming, workpiece positioning, discharge machining, and dimensional inspection are coordinated by our internal engineering and production teams.

A typical workflow may include:

  1. CNC machining of the workpiece
  2. Heat treatment when required
  3. Copper or graphite electrode preparation
  4. CNC die-sinking EDM
  5. Surface and dimensional inspection
  6. Polishing or final finishing

Keeping these processes within the same production system allows electrode offsets, machining depths, cavity dimensions, and finishing conditions to be adjusted more efficiently according to the actual inspection results.

The exact brand and model of the machine cannot be confirmed from this image because the external nameplate is not visible. Therefore, the equipment title should use the general name CNC Die-Sinking EDM Machine rather than a specific model designation.
