Die Spotting Press

The equipment shown is a die spotting press, also known as a mold spotting press. It is used during mold assembly and validation to open, close, support, and inspect the upper and lower sections of a mold under controlled conditions.

Unlike a production press, a die spotting press is primarily used for mold fitting, contact verification, movement checks, and assembly adjustment. It provides a stable platform for technicians to examine how the two mold halves align and interact before production trials.

Key Advantages

  • Controlled mold opening and closing
  • Clear parting-surface inspection
  • Safer mold fitting access
  • Stable alignment verification
  • Efficient adjustment support

Mold Validation Capabilities

The die spotting press supports operations such as:

  • Upper and lower mold alignment
  • Parting-line contact inspection
  • Core and cavity matching
  • Guide-system verification
  • Slider and lifter movement checks
  • Ejector-system confirmation
  • Insert and shut-off fitting
  • Interference and clearance detection
  • Mold-height and closing-condition checks

During validation, marking material may be applied to selected contact surfaces. The mold is then closed under controlled pressure and reopened so technicians can evaluate the contact pattern. Areas with uneven contact can be identified for localized fitting, polishing, or adjustment.

The press also allows the mold to be opened and positioned at a practical working height, giving technicians better access to internal components than conventional manual lifting or turning methods.

Role in the Mold Manufacturing Process

The die spotting press is normally used after the main mold assembly has been completed and before full production testing.

A typical validation sequence may include:

  1. Mold installation and positioning
  2. Upper and lower mold alignment
  3. Controlled closing
  4. Parting-surface contact inspection
  5. Slider, lifter, and guide checks
  6. Local fitting and adjustment
  7. Repeated opening and closing
  8. Final verification before mold trial

Using this equipment within the factory helps the assembly team coordinate directly with engineering, machining, polishing, and quality personnel. Adjustments can be made according to actual contact conditions instead of relying only on dimensional data.

The die spotting press shown forms part of our mold fitting and validation capability. The applied pressure, opening position, and inspection method are selected according to the mold size, weight, structure, and validation requirements.
