Our MIM production area is equipped with a SinterZone vacuum sintering furnace for the controlled thermal processing of metal injection molded components.
After injection molding and debinding, MIM brown parts are arranged on sintering trays and loaded into the furnace. The equipment applies a programmed heating cycle under vacuum or a controlled protective atmosphere, allowing the metal powder particles to bond and densify while the parts shrink toward their final dimensions and material properties. Injection molding, debinding, and sintering are the three principal stages of the MIM process.
Key Advantages
- Controlled sintering atmosphere
- Programmable heating cycles
- Stable batch processing
- Improved part densification
- Consistent repeat production
Equipment Capabilities
The furnace supports the sintering of MIM components manufactured from suitable metal feedstocks. Depending on the material and process route, technicians can control temperature, heating and cooling rates, holding time, vacuum level, and processing atmosphere.
Typical applications include:
- Stainless-steel MIM components
- Small precision structural parts
- Medical-related metal components
- Electronic and connector parts
- Automotive and industrial components
- Complex metal parts produced by MIM
The sintering stage helps reduce residual porosity and develop the required density, strength, dimensional condition, and surface characteristics of the finished component. The exact atmosphere must be selected according to the metal being processed.
Role in Our MIM Process
The SinterZone furnace is integrated with our feedstock molding, debinding, tray loading, sintering, dimensional inspection, and finishing operations.
A typical production sequence includes:
- Metal injection molding
- Green-part inspection
- Binder removal
- Tray loading
- Vacuum or controlled-atmosphere sintering
- Cooling and unloading
- Dimensional and appearance inspection
- Secondary finishing when required
Keeping the sintering process within our factory allows the production and quality teams to coordinate furnace loading, thermal profiles, shrinkage compensation, atmosphere settings, and inspection results according to each material and component design.
SinterZone develops thermal-processing equipment for powder metallurgy, including catalytic debinding furnaces, vacuum sintering furnaces, brazing furnaces, and continuous furnaces. The complete model number of the equipment shown is not visible, so the recommended title is SinterZone MIM Vacuum Sintering Furnace.
