This custom gear mold is professionally designed for mass molding of small precision plastic gears, effectively solving issues of uneven filling, gear tooth dimensional inconsistency and rapid insert abrasion in multi-cavity production.

The mold plate adopts symmetrical 4-cavity layout with independent gear tooth core inserts for each cavity, which can be separately replaced when worn to lower maintenance costs. Four large guide pins ensure precise mold alignment during repeated opening and closing, while the central balanced runner system guarantees identical melt flow to every cavity, eliminating size deviation among molded gears.

Complete Precision Machining Workflow

  1. 5-axis CNC rough milling for mold base outline and cavity rough machining
  2. Vacuum heat treatment to unify steel hardness, enhance structural rigidity and reduce deformation
  3. Precision surface grinding to control mold base flatness and parallelism within ±0.002mm
  4. Sinker EDM and wire cutting for intricate gear tooth profiles and insert matching gaps
  5. Multi-stage mirror polishing to reduce plastic melt adhesion and smooth gear ejection
  6. Optional PVD coating to improve insert wear resistance when molding glass-fiber reinforced plastics

All mold components pass full 3D coordinate measuring inspection to meet strict drawing tolerance standards. Custom development is fully supported based on customer gear samples or engineering drawings: mold steel grade, cavity quantity, gear tooth insert design, runner layout and surface treatment can be adjusted according to plastic type, production cycle and service life demands.

The balanced multi-cavity design maintains consistent gear tooth precision under continuous mass production, drastically cutting reject rates for miniature transmission plastic gears.
